What are the best screen doors?

The sliding screen doors are the most used doors in they home and you just cant take another drag, push or pull.  So what do you do?  The best screen doors are made out of extruded aluminum and are custom made to fit your opening right.  They come with the best ball bearing rollers that are made out of steal, the handle and lock latch are heavy duty and made out of extruded aluminum as well.

The frame is cut to site and is coated with a baked enamel finish that does not chip or fade with the elements. The corners that are used to hold the frame together are also metal for better strength in holding the door together square and the handles are also both in and outer are metal and solid.

Repair window screen old frames

After many years window screen frames start to need repair.  Some will be bent in several spots and cracked, other you will be missing all together and other will seem to never fit right.  Screen frames are very delicate and have to be handled with a bit of care.  Never grab a screen in the middle of the frame because thats the number one place the screen frame id the weakest.

A screen needs tabs and you need to handle it there.  If you are having problems taking the screen off and on then you might need to repair or even replace it. There is good news.  I can probable fix most screen problems without replacing anything but the mesh.  I take out the bug screen and try to do my best in straightening it out. Once straight I rescreen it with new charcoal fiberglass and bam, a new screen for the next 10 to 15 years.

Is your sliding screen door sticking on the track

Most screen doors don’t slide properly after a few seasons because the are not maintained right.  The screen door has rollers and need to be cleaned and oiled with wd40.  You can do s screen cleaning by hosing off the screen door right on the spot, letting it dry and then spray the track and rollers with some lubricant. Adjusment on each roller is also necisary and can easily be done with a philips screw driver, turn one way and the frame drops turn the other and it lifts.

Tracks

One of the most important things to check when doing screen door repair is, look at the track, is it clean, is there rocks and dirt in it, is it warped, rusted or oxidized, all these things will affect the way the patio door slides and need to be fixed in order to prevent you door from sticking.  My areas are! Thousand Oaks, Lynn Ranch, Westlake Village, Oak Park, Agoura Hills, Lake Shearwood, Newbury Park, Camarillo, Conejo Valley, Moorpark, Happy Camp, Santa Rosa, Pleasant Valley, Simi Valley, Woodranch, Woodland Hills, Westhills, Oxnard, Ventura and Calabasas. Call me and I’ll take care of all your needs.

Replacing your patio door screens

Before replacing your patio door screen you should make a check list to make sure you will have everything you need. When looking carefully at screen you might notice that it may just need repairing it. First check the screening if it looks clear and you see no holes, rips or tears, then you now the screen part is ok. If mesh is old and you see it is turning gray then you will need to replace it.

If you are going to do your own installation you are going to need some basic tools, a screw driver for roller adjustment and tucking in the spline that holds the screen.  Also need is a spline roller,  This rolls the screen into the frame. When the screen doors finished and ready for install , make sure the rollers are adjusted and retracted into the frame. This allows more space in between the top channel and bottom track for easy installing.

To make things easier for you in this process there is a fix door kit that comes with the tools and materials need to do the job right the first time. We know that when spring comes around it’s always repair repair around the house all at once so we hope this will make it easier for you.  If you feel that you still need more professional help, I service:  Thousand Oaks, Lynn Ranch, Westlake Village, Oak Park, Agoura Hills, Lake Shearwood, Newbury Park, Camarillo, Conejo Valley, Moorpark, Happy Camp, Santa Rosa, Pleasant Valley, Simi Valley, Woodranch, Woodland Hills, Westhills, Oxnard, Ventura and Calabasas.

Important aspects of screen repair and pet screen

There are a few things you need to check on your porch screens in order to do a proper screen repair.  For the aluminum frame on the sliding screen doors to slide good it will need to have no roller hardware problems.  The best are the copper wheels, they are long lasting and usually have sealed bearings which don’t allow dirt from the backyard pool area to oxidize them.

Next you will need to check the fiberglass insect screening. When working with mesh on sliding doors pet screen is what I recommend, this stuff is so strong you can barely  cut it with a knife. Just make sure the spline is on tight and almost nothing will rip it.  Try not to use the regular wire mesh used on windows as it was intended to be a bugscreen and not to be used by dogs, cats, kids and people touching it.

I offer a professional and affordable mobile screen door repair service that does on the spot work. I start with a free estimate so i can look at the door I will be working on, it’s the only way to see what the problem is.  The screen might need to be fixed or replaced and I do it all.  I first try to do a full adjustment or what I call an upgrade, I’ll start with checking the frame, the rollers, the handle and lock latch and the screen mesh.

Most parts can be fixed if not replaced and I do it on the spot.  The frame needs to be straight in order for the sliding screen to not stick or fall off the track, if it’s bent cracked or small for the opening, it will affect the way the screen slides.  I can fix this most of the time and usually it does not cost too much, it will certainly be less that buying a new sliding screen door.
